eHealth and the safety of the exchange of information
Information is the fuel of good quality healthcare. However, the current ICT-infrastructure simply isn’t suited for the free flow of data in the healthcare system and the patient’s right of information. Medical data needs to be re-entered everywhere and without exchange of personal health records, critical information isn’t available at the right time and place. These issues pose a threat to the health of patients but also to the safety of their data. Furthermore, information sharing is a major source of frustration among health care professionals and patients. Therefore, the Ministry of Health, Welfare and Sports is getting more involved in the digitisation of the healthcare sector and the exchange of information and data.
